Seminar Response
The seminar was pretty interesting, and fun. It was a little frustrating at times becase the subject kept bouncing around, but that was alright because I tended to digress pretty often as well. My opinion was that biology is not destiny; all it determines are inclinations, not choices. I was a little taken aback by all the talk about natural selection going on since I had not thought of the subject from an evolutionary perspective, but I liked the notion of environment determing biology determining personality. Fun logic! Most people agreed that both nature and nurture take parts in determining a person's personality and physique. I agree that both your genes and your environment can incline you towards certain directions, but I say that the most important part of a person's character is the choices they make.I would give myself a B. I think I managed to introduce a few interesting points, and respond to other people's ideas. I had a few notes, although I didn't really make much use of them during the seminar. I understood most of what everyone was talking about... I hope.
